A statement from John Grove, Chief Executive Officer of the Quality First Education Trust, to our parents and carers - 9 September 2022.
Following the news yesterday of the sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with the members of the Royal Family and with all those affected by her loss. Her dedication and service to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth over many decades was unparalleled. May she rest in peace.
We realise that this is a momentous occasion which most of us have never experienced in our lifetime and that your children and family may find this news upsetting. As the Quality First Education Trust, we will continue to serve all our pupils, families and staff. As further information is released to schools about the mourning period and State Funeral, we will be back in touch.
Children and adults may find the news cycle over the coming weeks overwhelming with a sense of collective grief and talk of death and funerals. There will be opportunities for children to discuss their feelings in class and your school will send you further details of the support we will offer and resources available later this week. Your child’s wellbeing is our top priority and if your child is upset by this news and would like additional support, please encourage them to speak to their class teacher or any other member of staff.
Yours,
John Grove
Chief Executive Officer
