Following a very thorough interview process which included local governors, Q1E trustees and senior staff, we are delighted to announce that we have appointed Sarah Atherton to the position of Q1E Head of Churchfields Primary School from September 2022.

Sarah will bring over 20 years of experience to Churchfields. For the last six years, she has been co-headteacher (Head of Juniors) of Belleville Primary School, also within the Quality First Education Trust. She recently played a key role in securing Belleville’s Ofsted judgement of ‘Outstanding in all areas’ in March 2022.

Sarah is extremely experienced teacher and leader who puts the children at the heart of everything she does. She worked for several years as a class teacher, including leading science and maths and overseeing upper Key Stage 2. She then became deputy headteacher at Belleville, leading on various aspects of the curriculum, standards, assessment and inclusion and working with a range of schools across London on joint projects, before her promotion to Head of Juniors.

Sarah says ‘It is an absolute privilege to be joining Churchfields next academic year as Q1E Head.

I first met some of the team from Churchfields around 10 years ago when we worked together on a project called ‘Challenge the Gap’ and it has been a pleasure to work alongside Tom and the school as part of the Q1E Trust since 2016.

I have an utter belief in the importance of education in our children’s lives – all children deserve the best that the school can offer - and, working in partnership with children, staff, families and the wider community, I believe we can achieve this. I’m excited to bring my knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to the community at Churchfields and to work with you to continue to ‘Aim Higher’ in all that we do.'
